New Hughes Surfboards SB11, Detonator and Gherkin2 available now!

Hughes Surfboards are happy to release their new SB11, Detonator and Gherkin2 models.

After some long and extensive product testing over the winter period through our teamrider’s and employees, the new models for Summer 2011 are finally available to the market.

The SB11 continues the refinement and evolution of the modern day high performance shortboard. With its wider plain shape, exaggerated mid rocker, and flattened tail, it provides the maneuverability in smaller condition’s, while also offering the drive and power that is required in the bigger surf.

The Detonator sees a unique blend of old school style, and new age theory. Similar in stature to the very popular Gherkin, the Detonator is to be ridden smaller than your normal shortboard, due to its wider plain shape and proportions. Its design has incorporated an exaggerated triple concave, allowing the surfer to move from rail to rail with ease, and its reduced rocker will ensure that it maintains speed in the smaller summer months that follow.

The Gherkin2 is a design that comes on the back of The Gherkin's success, popularity and positive feed back from our customer base and teamrider's, leaving us with the question of how could it be made better? The result, a Gherkin that could achieve the same result, in bigger waves, thus, the Gherkin2 was born. Still intended to be ridden smaller than your normal shortboard, it has incorporated the same wider plain shape, flattened rocker, and straightened rail through the tail, giving it the drive needed to excel in bigger conditions, but also allowing it to be easily maneuvered due to its shorter length.
