Mischa take's the crown and Barnfield runner up at the Hyundai Pro Longboard event Raglan
Hughes Surfboards Teamriders Mischa Davis and Dyllan Barnfield have flown the Trident flag at the first event of the 2012 Surfing New Zealand Summer of Surfing event, the Hyundai Pro Longboard Tour event Raglan, and come away with first and second placing’s respectively.
Mischa, fresh back from a year studying in Europe took the honours in the Women’s Longboard Division. It was the first event that Davis had competed in for 12 months but that did not impact on her performance scoring 14.73 points in the final.
“It feels pretty good to come home and win” Davis said. “I love surfing Raglan, I am a goofy footer so I feel at home here. It is perfect for longboarding at this size” added Davis who has returned back to New Zealand to finish her studies and plans to contest all five Hyundai Tour events this year.
Dylan Barnfield placed second in the Open Men's final after earlier beating event winner Thomas Kibblewhite in the semifinals. Barnfield scored an impressive 7.57 point ride early in the final to match Kibblewhite's top score, but with the ocean going flat for much of the latter half of the heat he simply did not get the chance to challenge for the win. Barnfield finished with a 12.87 point heat total.
Both surfers were riding their Custom made Hughes Surfboards Longboards. Dylan opting for a 9'1 Concaved EPS Hybrid Epoxy, while Mischa chose her 9'1 PU Performance Board. Both board's available for custom manufacturing.
